Teaching

Mary Lou Fallis has a Masters Degree in Performance and Literature from the University of Toronto and taught voice for the past ten years at the Don Wright Faculty of Music at University of Western Ontario and before that, two years at Queen's University in Kingston. She has a reputation as a teacher with strong practical technical knowledge, musical imagination and an inspirational rapport with her singers. She is in demand across the country as an adjudicator and clinician having served in that capacity from Whitehorse Yukon to Victoria B.C to St. John's Newfoundland and has judged provincial and national competitions.

Ms. Fallis' Masterclass on Music and Humour has been presented at Halifax's Maritime Conservatory, University of British Columbia's Opera Programme, The Victoria Conservatory as well as the Glenn Gould School at the Royal Conservatory in Toronto. Her recent work on the panel of judges for BRAVO! TV's "Bathroom Divas" won her a Gemini for producing and arranging the singer's 'boot camp'.

Ms Fallis maintains a studio in Toronto at the centrally located Trinity St. Paul's Centre 427 Bloor Street West. The class performs recitals twice a year and has the advantage of Master Classes with visiting teachers and well known performers spaced throughout both terms. An excellent and very experienced professional collaborative pianist is available for lessons and coachings as needed. Ms. Fallis former students include those who have gone on to sing and teach professionally as well as those who sing for their own enjoyment and personal musical development. She is often asked for professional evaluations, to coach material for specific auditions or career advice.
